Little man and little lady’s favorite word of the week is NO!
I have a lot to do with that since lately they have just been into everything and so I have said No please don’t do that more than ever.
It’s almost as they’ve teamed up against me and let me tell you this little duo does not go down with out a fight.
Little man recently said to me “I’m mad” I have Kai-Lan to thank for that one.
I asked him “why are you mad?” he went on to his own little language and I said “oh wow really ok I’ll see what we can do”
which he replies with “NO NO NO”
Could he really tell I didn’t understand or is he just rebelling.
I read on BABYCENTER.COM that this is just a phase and that they are just building up their little personalities. This stage will pass… we hope soon.
but then I though Ok it’s normal for little man but what about little lady.
Seems she may be in the “copy whatever my brother does” stage. This includes yelling out NO NO NO also. Its rather funny coming from her because we know she doesn’t understand what shes really saying no to at times. It wasn’t too long ago that we were in the yes nodding stage.
I am all for my kids becoming their own little people. Had this been me as a kid, my parents would have scold me for even talking back. You know in the Mexican culture you respect your elders and talking back yelling no no no would have got you a good timeout if not the chancla, (the sandal) thrown at you.
As the article states if the fight little man is putting up is something i could careless about like picking a show or which baby to take to bed, then hey, he can choose which ever one he wants.
However, if it’s about what time he’s going to bed, that one is not debatable. One thing I have tried to teach them is their boundaries and this “No” phase definitely tests most of the boundaries when we are out in public.
