ReplyDeleteI read to my boys because I love the time we spend together, it brings us closer and ends our day with our imaginations going. Loved these tips!! (we sometimes make up a different ending .. we are literary rebels :)

ReplyDeleteMy tip: Make it entertaining, act out the characters, and the book will become real to them. This will also make you the cool Mom when your kids talk about you in the future. My teen still recalls our reading sessions with fondness!

ReplyDeleteMy tip? Alina loves to read the same book over and over. So to bring attention to a new word, action or focus, I change my tempo and inflictions to achieve such.

ReplyDeleteHave fun and be silly. The more you engage in reading out loud with your kids, the more they will enjoy it. I love to make silly voices for different characters, my daughter loves it.

I follow you on GFC and my tip is to choose the book with the age and likes of the kid in mind. If you are reading something that interest them in some way they'll engage more and enjoy reading for a lifetime.
