That baby is NOT nice-nice

Lately Little Lady and Little Man have gotten into pretend play. It was maybe when we first arrived to cali that I noticed Little Lady calling Little Man "Father"

She looked over at me and said "He's my Father, mom"
I laughed

She then started asking for a baby. I'm thinking "oh ya, a baby stuffed animal or maybe she misses her dolls"

No she was saying a real baby. The neighbors around here have a couple of little ones. We hear the cries but never seen the babies.

So on a day we visited grandma at work, there he was a real little baby!

baby is not nice nice

Little Lady was so excited. I mean this baby moved and wiggled. Little Man was just interested in the baby's wrist toys, they had balls on them (boys will be boys)

We sat the baby next to Little Lady so she could get to know him. All was well until he
gently reached for her noisy bag of cookies.

She immediately looked at me and said "Mom, he is not nice-nice. Tell him to share"
She kept looking at him and even turned to his mom and said "your baby is crying help him"

I asked her if she was sure she wanted a baby brother. Her response "NO"

So this morning I hear her again "Father"
I turn to her and asked her if she still wanted a baby brother or sister and she nodded.

While I wasn't sure she heard me correctly I had to grab my phone an record a little conversation with her.

Needless to say my desire to add another baby to this family is far from happening that includes a puppy. Perhaps she will settle for a non cookie grabbing stuffed dog.

What do you tell your kids when they ask for siblings?

  2. What a cute story, Ruby. Look at her little face! She's just checking out that baby. We worried at first about having an only child, until recently, when we asked the question: "Do you wish you had a baby brother or sister?" Our son's response was loud and clear. NO. *lol* So much for worrying that we'd left him emotionally scarred.

    Miss you, Amiga.
