YOU swallowed a WHAT!?!

At the ER after "swallowing a quarter"

Yesterday my heart sunk after hearing some pretty scary words out of Little Lady
She walks over to me and says "Mom, I swallowed a quarter"
I immediately turned around from what I was doing and YELLED "WHATTTTT"
Scared she backed away and said a "quarter"

My kids hardly ever play with coins They know that's Mom and Dad's stuff so no need to pick them up let alone put them in their mouth.

Next thing you know I'm getting kids ready to go to ER and I'm on the phone calling the hubs and my mother.
They did X-rays they took measurements, and took temperatures only to determine that Little Lady was telling stories.

After the madness of the ER was all said and done we went home and decided to give all the lose coins at grandma + papuchoni's house a home!

We made Coin Banks. Simple, recycled, and cute COIN BANKS!

The kids decorated them and were so excited to get them filled. We were far from being done when I felt this was the perfect time to talk to the kids about money, coins, or any other small objects they could potentially get their hands on.

Towards the end of our discussion I recorded this video. I want Little Lady to be able to go back and see how much she truly understood what she said and did was wrong.

Lesson Learned? I sure hope so!

Have your kids ever said something that freaked you out that led you to the ER?

p.s. Little Lady is so much like me always getting in to some type of trouble. Fortunately, she didn't stay over night at the hospital. By the time I was 3 years old I had choked on something, cut my foot with glass and had 3rd degree burns. We are so happy Little Lady is ok!

  6. wait a minute!!! it was a story! OMG, that's kind of funny but scary! Que locura. So glad she's fine. But I'm hopeful she understands the implications of telling lil' fibs. Piggy banks are a great lesson! Stick them there!

  7. Chica, ¡Dios es muy grande! And kudos to you for immediately teaching your kids a lesson, not just about not putting money in their mouth but to save it. PS: ¡los niños están para comérselos!

  8. I'm sorry, I know it was a scary situation, but reading it is kinda cute and funny :P A friend in PEru was once told by her son that he had swallowed a marble. She bought one kilo of granadillas (a fruit full of seeds), and gave it to him. I'm sure you can imagine what happened next....lol
