GUB Bites: La Esperanza Restaurant

Today Hispanic Heritage Month comes to an end... kind of. Learning about our Mexican culture is an ongoing effort I make for the kids especially being away from family and California.

Today while out running errands the hubs surprised us with a visit to a local new find of Authentic Mexican Food. The restaurant La Esperanza or as their site states "Mexican Hope"

I was beyond excited finally a sit down Mexican food place with spanish music playing and Mexican decor.

We ordered our food and enjoyed a nice Mexican lunch.

I had quesadillas con arroz y frijoles the kids had the same. The hubs had his favorite Tacos al pastor!
I think the best part was the service and the botanas. Nothing says Mexican like homemade tortilla chips homemade salsa and guacamole in a molcajete just like at home!

I never noticed how important the small things in our food were from the plates they are served in to the way our food is prepared. You really learn to appreciate good authentic food that reminds you of home when you move far away.

This restaurant lives up to their name because I left filled with hope that life on the East Coast is getting better!
We can't wait to visit again and get to know this awesome familia.

I leave you with a piece of their about page:
This is La Familia Cordova the basis of our small Mexican Restaurant and we believe it is the reason why our restaurant is so great. Because la familia (family) is the base of society, a good family will make a good neighborhood and a good neighborhood makes a great nation. -http://www.mexicanhope.com/
Next, we are excited to celebrate Dia de los Muertos/ Day of the Dead.

Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post. Just sharing a new find and wanted to document our visit.

  5. I'm a little jealous too and I'm in LA! I'd love to try this place next time I'm in the area. I really loved the way you tied in the name, food, and your overall feelings about living in NJ in the closing. :)

  6. What a great idea to become a hyper local resource for your Latino community... its the same everywhere if you come from LA: you can never find good enough Mexican comida to compare to the stuff from home! Love the pictures of the babies, as always! Besos, amiga!
