You know from the past we've enjoyed Nintendo 3DS and even When Times square was turned into Mushroom Kingdom but still I wasn't crazy about video games like the hubs.
I always felt like they took over our family time but that's because were playing all the wrong games!
When I demoed the WiiU at LATISM12 I knew we were going to purchase it. I knew our home needed it. I felt that as much as games were played in our home by the hubs that I should at least give in and try something that we could all be a part of.
The Wii U has truly become our new FAMILY TIME!

The WiiU has opened up a new way for all of us to play. The hubs and I may get a little frustrated with the kids but Hey they're learning. So far little lady is learning about winning and losing. Little Man is learning about team work!
The WiiU is easy for all of us to use. We have so much fun playing with up to 5 players(including the pad)
Our favorite games so far are NintendoLand, Skylander Giants and Super Mario Bros. U.
At the Activision Family Game Summit I learned the benefits of video games and also the necessity of setting limits and becoming educated in game ratings.
For starters, the online community of MiiVerse will become more useful allowing us to post game screen shots with some games. They also mentioned accounts would become verified this not only brings more security but it makes the community accountable for their actions allowing game time as a family to be a lot more censored I believed.
They also mentioned 2 new system updates would be available in spring and summer and that the wait time wouldn't be crazy long like when we first updated the system when we brought it home.
Also mentioned were the new titles that can be expected for the WiiU including Pikman3(one of my new favorites) The Ledgend of Zelda The Wind Waker (Dads Favorite) and a Yoshi game!!!

Nintendo released some great news for the WiiU.
Just yesterday Nintendo Direct had us so excited with so much news. For starters, the online community of MiiVerse will become more useful allowing us to post game screen shots with some games. Disclosure: This is not a compensated post. We are a true Nintendo Wii U loving family and couldn't wait to share how we've learned to play our wii for the past 2 months. We purchased all games and console.

I appreciate your perspective on gaming. As long as there are limits and supervision, gaming can be an engaging and even educational activity for young ones (and old). My son started lobbying for the WiiU as soon as it came out. Considering we'd just purchased the Wii, the answer was NO, but that's not to say we wouldn't consider upgrading at some point in the future. Hey, maybe you can find out when they'll be coming out with their version of Minecraft? :-)
ReplyDeleteany kind of family time is fun ;) we don't have a wiiU but it looks awesome! :D
ReplyDeleteI love hearing about all your gaming family time. It gives me great inspiration to let the hubs and Doll Face get a Wii... maybe. lol
ReplyDelete:)
I love your blog and how you encourage your children to embrace both of their cultures. My boys are White/Latino and although their bio-father is no longer in the picture, I speak Spanish to them, read them books about Mexico, and we celebrate Dia De Los Muertos. I am your newest follower. I was hopin' that you'd hop on by my blog, stay a while, and follow back if you like it!!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day,
Sarah
