Reading books and coloring pictures sometimes just isn’t enough to learn about History.
Today we celebrate the birth of the great Martin Luther King, Jr and I wanted the kids to visually see and learn about him.
Here is our MLK story as it was told to our little ones.
I decided to ask the kids if this was fair? I asked what would make this bus ride fair?
While there were no right answers I wanted to know what they thought.
Below you will see the order Little Man and Little Lady thought were fair.
We continued to talk about the need for change. I told them what MLK did and where the most significant speech he gave took place.
Little Lady was quick to pick up our activity from yesterday and say “oh we have dreams right mama”
I knew they were understanding and this moment was important!
They enjoyed playing with the board and wanted to hear the story of what each piece represented. This will continue to be out for them to explore.
If you are interested you can download our free template. In this template you will get the directions on how to make the MLK, his podium, the protesters and audience, and the protest signage.
